Dipping of Hatching Eggs for Control of Mycoplasma gallisepticum

Abstract
Under the conditions of these experiments, hatchability was not significantly altered by the dipping procedure. Serological and condemnation results suggest that the level of egg-transmitted M. gallisepticum is dramatically reduced by the dipping technique and that birds so produced will remain relatively free of CRD/air sacculitis during the broiler growing period under normal management conditions. Birds produced by the system in these studies outperformed controls on the basis of average weights at marketing time, presumably because of M. gallisepticum control.
