Abstract
Ten healthy individuals fed a low-thiamine diet did not show any increase in thiamine excretion in the urine after ingesting up to 70 gm of sorbitol daily for as long as 10 days. Thus the thiamine-sparing action of sorbitol, as it has been demonstrated in rats, could not be duplicated in man. Keywords
