Abstract
Simulations of Su(3) lattice gauge theory with four species of light quarks show a large peak in the bulk specific heat near β=6g25.10 separating strong and weak coupling. ψ¯ψ satisfies asymptotic-freedom scaling for β=6g25.10 and ψ¯ψ13ΛMS=(2.6±0.1)(4π2β25)425 (MS denotes the modified minimal-subtraction scheme). Finite-temperature simulations on a 6 × 103 tice show a smooth but rapid crossover at TΛMS=2.14±0.10. We find no evidence for metastable states.
