Abstract
Characteristic level of RBC number, hematocrit level, mean RBC vol., hemoglobin content, reticulo-cyte %, WBC number, and granulocyte % is given for 2-3 month virgin females and males of 18 inbred strains. Analysis of variance disclosed highly significant genetic differences in RBC number, hematocrit, and hemoglobin, closely inter-correlated so that only one strain differed significantly in mean cell vol.; significant strain difference in WBC number and granulocyte %, and significant sex difference in granulocyte % only. There was a correlation between strain means for total WBC number and % agranulocytes, indicating more extensive genetic variation in lymphocytes than in granulocytes. In this data, the observed strain differences do not appear to be related to differences in other known physiol. characteristics. Keywords
