Abstract
The Death Threat Index and its underlying theoretical base and procedure represent one of the more significant focuses of work on death and dying. If the procedure is varied slightly, however, a more qualitative picture of a subject's construal of death is possible. This variation is outlined, and the significance of the complexity and individuality of death construal, for death education programes, is considered. Keywords
