Study of theK39(d, t)K38Reaction atEd=23MeV

Abstract
The K39(d, t)K38 reaction has been utilized to study states in K38 below an excitation energy of 5 MeV. Spectroscopic factors have been extracted by comparing the data with distorted-wave calculations. For states for which both l=0 and l=2 transitions are allowed, attempts have been made to extract relative admixtures. Two positive-parity states, not previously reported in neutron-pickup experiments, have been observed at Ex=3.44 and 3.99 MeV. Two weak negative-parity states have been observed at Ex=2.64 (l=1) and 4.66 MeV (l=3), indicating the admixture of core-excited configurations in the ground-state wave function of K39.
