Abstract
Previous perturbation treatments of paramagnetic relaxation effects in yy PAC were limited to the case of very short electronic relaxation times. We circumvent this limitation by invoking a new perturbation theory recently elaborated by Hirst and others for handling relaxation effects in Môssbauer spectra. Under the assumption of spherical electronic relaxation we are then able to compute the perturbation factors as functions of certain relaxation parameters which are directly related to the microscopic relaxation hamiltonian. We compare our results to those of the stochastic theory of Scherer and BlumeKeywords
