Abstract
The degree of com-bination between plasmin and plasmin inhibitor was found to depend on incubation time and temp. of the reactants. Admn. of adrenocorticotropin produced a significant increase in the plasmin inhibitor titer of blood. Injn. of thyrotropin or thyroxine caused elevations of the plasmin inhibitor in blood. Cortisone produced no change. The plasmin inhibitor titer of rat plasma 10 days after removal of the hypophysis or of the adrenals, was greatly reduced. Splenectomy did not alter the plasmin inhibitor level of plasma. In splenectomized rats adrenocorticotropin admn. produced no change in the plasmin inhibitor titer of the blood. On the other hand, admn. of thyroxine to splenectomized rats produced an elevation of the titer. The significance of these findings is discussed. Keywords
