Abstract
The crystal structure of NaOH·4H2O is compared with that of KF·4H2O, described in the preceding paper, in terms of the hydration polyhedra of the ions. The marked difference in structure corresponds with a difference in the hydrogen‐bond environment of the F— and OH— ions. The environment of the latter is consistent with the formation of five strong acceptor hydrogen bonds and a very weak donor hydrogen bond which completes an octahedral coordination. A similar environment is found in the structures of the mono‐ and heptahydrates. Keywords
