Abstract
As the temperature of incubation is raised the growth requirements of both organisms become more exacting. At 43[degree] L-glutamic acid and DL-methionine are essential for the growth of Proteus vulgaris. and L-glutamic acid, L-arginine, and either thiamine or L-lysine for the growth of Salmonella typhi. The enzyme responsible for the formation of L-glutamic acid is apparently among the 1st to be affected by increases in temperature.
