Abstract
Most adenoviruses produce in tissue culture a factor which in low dilutions detaches HeLa or KB cells from glass surfaces within 1/2 to 4 hours after inoculation. The active material is non-dialyzable, trypsin sensitive, relatively resistant to heat and UV light, and smaller than the infectious virus particle. The cell-detaching factor contains adenovirus antigens, but is not serologically identical with the infectious virus or the soluble complement fixing antigen. Keywords
