Abstract
In order to investigate the special function of tryptophan in peptide hormones, 6 tryptophan analogs were synthesized (benzofurylalanine, benzothienylalanine, Nin-methyltryptophan, 5-fluorotryptophan, 6-fluorotryptophan, 4,5,6,7-tetrafluorotryptophan), in which structural resemblance was grossly retained and potentially essential properties only partially varied. The L-enantiomers were isolated after enzymatic digestion of racemic dipeptide derivatives, and charge-transfer properties of the compounds were studied. Keywords
