Abstract
Low-cost larval diets for mass production of Dacus oleae (Gmelin) were developed and compared. Diets SFC and MNC containing inexpensive celluloses and diets CCG and CCM containing corn cob were found satisfactory. Two brands of brewer’s yeast (differing in cost) tested with these diets gave similar yields. Diet CCG with corn cob grits was the most economical and reduced the cost of pupal production up to 4 times compared with the control diets.
