Abstract
The temperature dependences of both the 23Na electric field gradient tensor (EFG) in NaNO2 and AgNa(NO2)2 and the spontaneous polarization Ps in NaNO2 were determined. Contrary to AgNa(NO2)2 for which a quadratic relation between the EFG and Ps has been established previously for NaNO2 a linear relation between these quantities is detected. The possible reasons for this behaviour and the shapes, widths, and intensities of the 23Na central and satellite lines in both substances are discussed. Keywords
