Abstract
The glycogen dist. in the hearts of dogs made hyperthyroid for varying durations of time was detd. by chemical methods. Short periods of tachycardia showed no alteration of the glycogen store; longer periods gave substantially reduced stores particularly in the left ventricle and the septum. Extreme disturbances of cardiac regularity appeared coincident with periods of rapid wt. loss. Hyperthyroidism increased the glycogen loss as a response to epinephrine and decreased the heart''s capacity to respond to epinephrine. Pathological changes were of the nature of parenchymatous degeneration. This publication has 6 references indexed in Scilit:
