Abstract
A new method is given for deriving the angular factors of energy matrices in atomic configurations, and the need for coefficients of fractional parentage, Racah coefficients, algebraic formulas, and chain calculations is avoided. Instead, matrix elements are obtained directly by a comparatively simple digital counting procedure.
