Abstract
Anorthite was collected from Sittampundi (Salem) and was used along with limestone from Sankaridrug (Salem) and quartz in the preparation of white cement by single sintering at 1450°C. The cement produced is white in colour with a slight greenish tinge due to the iron and manganese impurities present in the felspar. The setting time of the cement conforms with the standard specifications and its curshing strength is slightly less. Keywords
