Abstract
The Weeks–Chandler–Andersen (WCA) model for liquids is simplified to calculate the thermodynamic properties of detonation products. Results are first compared with Monte Carlo (MC) calculations. The argon Hugoniot deduced from MC results is in good agreement with that of the model. Intermolecular potentials for H2O, N2, CH4, and CO2 are fitted with experimental Hugoniots. We propose a mixture model deduced from the Lee–Levesque model. This new mixture model allows us to calculate the Chapman–Jouguet pressure and velocity of PETN by solving the chemical equilibrium for ten different components. Good agreement with experiment is obtained without using any parameter other than those of intermolecular potentials. The CJ velocity of TNT and CJ temperature of NM agree with experimental data. Keywords
