Capture and Elastic Scattering of Protons byC14

Abstract
The reactions C14(p,γ)N15 and C14(p,p)C14 have been studied in the energy region 0.6<Ep<2.7 MeV. Particular attention was directed to a level which is produced at Ep=2.49 MeV (Ex=12.54 MeV); this level is distinct from a frequently observed level at Ex=12.51 MeV. It is concluded on the basis of a dispersion-theory fit to the scattering data that the 12.54-MeV level has T=32, J=52+, and that it is the analog of the first excited state in C15.
