Abstract
Broadband Raman amplification is demonstrated in a dispersion compensating fibre (DCF). A polarisation-combined four channel wavelength division multiplexing 14xx nm laser diode unit is used for the pumping light source. Losses in the DCF are completely compensated for by means of the Raman gain over 50 nm bandwidth within ±0.5 dB variation. Keywords
