Abstract
The interest in vitamin D as a possible source of injury to the cardiovascular system lies in the recent advances in our knowledge of supravalvular aortic stenosis. When, in 1958, Denie and Verheugt (1) reviewed the literature on supravalvular aortic stenosis, they found that 12 cases had been described, and they added 1 case of their own. After this, a number of such cases were recognized. In 1961, Wooley and associates (2) described the occurrence of supravalvular aortic stenosis in several members of one family. The existence of this so-called familial type has been confirmed by others and is nowKeywords
