Abstract
The authors describe two patients with secondary mania associated with right thalamic infarctions. Both patients exhibited hemisensory loss, denial of illness, and amnesia for the manic episode. One improved with lithium therapy and the other recovered without specific pharmacologic intervention. A review of reported cases reveals that most focal lesions associated with secondary mania involve the diencephalic region and that the majority of lateralized lesions are on the right side. Keywords
