Abstract
The anomaly associated with mean free paths of projectile fragments observed in relativistic heavy-ion collisions is interpreted in terms of nuclear size, isotope, and structure effects. This interpretation relies upon the existence of quasibound quasimolecular states, predicted by many nuclear-structure calculations. Keywords
