Abstract
A theoretical model of an RF plasma excited by a stripline travelling wave has been used to predict the behaviour of an RF pumped gas laser for an excitation frequency in the range 200 to 2000 MHz, and is shown to place constraints on the operating frequency for optimum performance. The model is illustrated with experimental results for the helium-neon system. Keywords
