Abstract
Twelve epoxides, lactones, and peroxy compounds were tested for carcinogenic activity by subcutaneous injection in rats. Three of these compounds induced sarcomas at the injection site. They are, in order of decreasing activity, glycidaldehyde, β-butyrolactone, and 2,2,4-trimethyl-3-hydroxy-3-pentenoic acid-β-lactone.Keywords
