Abstract
The 63Cu NMR on CuNi alloys in the critical concentration range for the transition to the paramagnetic state (45 at.%63Cu line exhibits features which are characteristic of the magnetic polarization due to Ni atoms in different magnetic states (magnetic and nearly magnetic) resulting from local environment effects. From the analysis of the NMR parameters a model is proposed to interpret the magnetic polarization of the observed Cu atoms showing the fundamental role of nearly magnetic atoms in the vicinity of these Cu sites. At the same time it is shown that chemical inhomogeneities resulting from clustering of Cu atoms strongly reduce the magnetic polarization of these atoms. Keywords
