Abstract
The high-resolution absorption spectrum of Sn i is reported in the region between 1580 and 2040 Å. Transitions have been observed from the 5p2 3P and 1D terms to levels with J ≤ 3 associated with 5pns, 5pnd, 5png, and 5s5p3 configurations. Energy levels have been determined with n* values as high as 76. A total of 1068 lines and 639 odd-parity energy levels are reported, a major part of which are new. An analysis of these data, based on Lu-Fano graphical methods and multichannel quantum-defect parameterization, is presented. Ionization limits of 59232.69 ± 0.10 cm−1 and 63484.18 ± 0.10 cm−1 have been determined for levels converging on the and levels of Sn ii, respectively.
