Abstract
The present study deals with the influence of a magnetic-fluid coating, held onto a circular cylinder surface by a magnetic field, on the viscous fluid flow structure round the cylinder in the Reynolds number range of 1–100. The influence of the coating thickness, magnetic fluid viscosity, and Reynolds number on flow separation and drag reduction is determined. The interface shape of the magnetic fluid coating and its behaviour, depending on the flow parameters, are also established. Keywords
