Abstract
Connectivity patterns (instead of mere activity distributions) are argued to be the natural objects of fast brain dynamics. They are to be understood as a basis for self‐organization. Natural assumptions on cooperation and competition lead to a conjecture regarding the type of dynamically preferred connectivity patterns. The conjecture is supported and illustrated by dynamic simulation. Applications to sensory segmentation, to invariant pattern recognition, and to resonant projection between homeomorphic structures are discussed. Keywords
