Abstract
A nucleation and growth transformation implicates the existence of a natural size ξ. We discusse the competition between ξ and the linear dimension L of the system. The transformation kinetics varies from Avrami size independent behaviour at large size (L ≫ ξ) to a strongly size dependent behaviour at L ≪ξ.Keywords
