Abstract
Calculations are made to find an analytical expression for the switching transient in different ferroelectrics. By studying this expression, it is possible to give a definition of the nucleus-domain interaction and to find a numerical relationship between this interaction and the shape of the switching pulse. An attempt is made to explain the power-law dependence of the switching time on applied field, which was found experimentally in BaTi (at high fields only), in thiourea, and in other ferroelectrics.
