Abstract
A hot film flowmeter, a thin film resistance thermometer and several thermistors were mounted on a submarine and used to study turbulence and temperature microstructure in the open sea. The surface layer is found to be continuously turbulent and patches of turbulence have been found in and below the main ocean thermocline. Keywords
