Tympanic Neurectomy in Chronic Parotitis

Abstract
Interruption of the parasympathetic pathways to the parotid gland by destruction of the tympanic plexus, has been shown to produce parotid atrophy in rabbits. The treatment of a refractory case of bilateral benign chronic parotitis by the application of this technique is presented. A good result was obtained and the patient has been symptom-free for 14 months.
