Abstract
An experiment on albino rats was conducted in order to study the effect of mitomycin (mitomycin C) on the healing of intestinal anastomoses. In each of four experimental groups, murine therapeutic doses were administered intermittently at different intervals. The healing process at the suture line was examined histologically, tensile strength was measured, and hydroxyproline content was determined. The results were compared with a group of experimental animals who did not receive the drug. No significant difference in the healing of intestinal anastomoses was found in the various experimental groups. Keywords
