Abstract
The dye-titration values of hydrojuglone glycoside solns. and of walnut extracts are similarly affected by changes in pH and the time interval between the additions of the dye. Seasonal variations in concn. of the glucoside are similar to those of the "apparent vit. C" in buds, catkins and fruits. These facts suggest that most of the "apparent vit. C" in the buds, catkins and fruits of the walnut is hydrojuglone glucoside. A 2d non-specific dye reductant, probably a flavanone, was found in the leaf. Keywords
