Abstract
Studies employing or investigating the metalinguistic judgments of native and nonnative speakers are reviewed. Their results and methodologies are compared in an attempt to stimulate reliable and informative applications of such judgments in future research. It is found that, given appropriate controls and validation procedures, metalinguistic judgments can play a useful role in language acquisition studies. This publication has 51 references indexed in Scilit:
