Abstract
Literature reviewed demonstrated that bruxism [in humans] may be profitably viewed as a psychophysiological disorder. A brief discussion of relevant literature on incidence and effects of bruxism indicated that the behavior may have significant symptomatic effects for a substantial proportion of the population. The contribution o dental, psychological/behavior and systemic/neurophysiological factors to development and maintenance of the disorder were extensively reviewed. Treatments derived from these models were evaluated. Methodological problems intrinsic to study of this behavior were presented and suggestions for future research made. This publication has 5 references indexed in Scilit:
