Abstract
Tight-binding calculations of the structure of the 3d band for Cr, Fe and Ni, using the interaction of both nearest and second nearest neighbours show a broadening of the 3d band at the lower energy limit for the body-centred cubic elements due to the second nearest neighbour interaction but a negligible effect on face-centred cubic Ni.Keywords
