Abstract
Propylthiouracil (PTU) inhibited glutathione (GSH) S-transferase (EC 2.5.1.18) activity of rat spleens in a concentration dependent manner in vitro. PTU (1.5 mmoles/kg) treatment of rats for 1 or 2 weeks caused a decrease in leukocyte number and spleen weight. Nevertheless, GSH S-transferase activity was not affected by the same treatment. Keywords
