Abstract
We develop a simple but systematic approach to the 2π exchange contributions to NN scattering graphs. When applied to s-wave NN scattering lengths, this scheme predicts a 2π contribution of magnitude |ann|2π|app|2π13 fm and |apn|2π|ann|2π16 fm. If we then combine this effect with simple π±, π0 and ρ±, ρ0 pole graphs, the net charge asymmetric scattering length is |ann||app|1.2 fm while the net charge dependent result is |apn||ann|2.7 fm. This compares favorably with the respective experimental values of approximately 1.5 and 5 fm.
