Abstract
A theory is presented for the switching phenomenon associated with the development of the current-carrying charge-density-wave state. The model is a version of the kinetic Ising model. It contains a spontaneous depinning probability density and a depinning wave. The data of Zettl and Grüner for Nb are accurately reproduced.
