Abstract
A linearized form of the classical Boltzmann collision integral generalized to a gas of nonvibrating diatomic molecules which was recently developed is used to define a set of kinetic theory cross sections which are the classical analog of those which are defined in terms of the matrix elements of the quantum mechanical Waldmann–Snider collision operator. The integrations over the velocity of the center of mass are carried out explicitly. This leads to expressions for the cross sections which are generalizations of the ’’Ω integrals’’ of the kinetic theory of spherical molecules. Keywords
