Abstract
In their Perspective, McConkey and Varki discuss the sequencing of the chimp genome, reported this week in the journal Nature. Although it is a notable accomplishment, it only marks the end of the beginning. The hard work of understanding how the genome generates the chimp phenome is still ahead of us, as is clarification of the precise differences between chimps and humans. Keywords
