Neural mechanisms in perception.

Abstract
A model which departs from conventional stimulus-response psychology and the neurophysiology of the past generation and emphasizes integration and autogenic activity is presented in detail. The neurophysiology involved consists of "complex networks" with the capacity to hold up and alter the characteristics of impulses transmitted to them, and with the capacity to initiate activity that is transmitted elsewhere to affect control of afferent impulses travelling to the cortex and efferent impulses travelling away from it." Experimental findings are cited.
