Abstract
195 strains of E. typhosa were isolated and typed for phage and biochemical reactions. 183 were of the C-phage type. 41% (80) were xylose-negative strains; a result not paralleled elsewhere in literature. Most of the strains were of the WV type. Two local phages were isolated[long dash]BB, like C, and TA, a non-specific phage. The various types of E. typhosa were about equally distributed geographically throughout Palestine, their prevalence was about the same among both the Jews and the Arabs; and there seemed to be no definite seasonal incidence of any one variety. Keywords
