Abstract
Doses of thyroxine or thyroid globulin that elevated the metabolism to levels of the normal animal stimulated the heart rate only half way to the corresponding level. With dried whole thyroid the acceleration of the heart rate preceded somewhat the metabolic increment and reached hyper-thyroid-like tachycardia, when the latter arrived at the normal-rat value. Hydrolysis split products of the globulin caused far more pronounced heart stimulation, leading to normal and higher beat figures, while the metabolism lagged behind. Considerable stimulation was occasionally observed with these latter preps. when the metabolism was unaffected. This publication has 2 references indexed in Scilit:
