Electron Microscopy of Equine Abortion Virus

Abstract
Hepatic cells of hamsters infected with equine abortion virus (EAV) when viewed by electron microscopy revealed no definitive intranuclear inclusion bodies, although these characteristically are seen by light microscopy. The particles of EAV were seen in several developmental forms, mostly in the nuclei. Cellular pathology observed included margination of chromatin, disruption of the nuclear membranes, vacuolation, and disappearance of nucleoli.
