Abstract
The Weberian apparatus of a wide variety of fish of the division Cyprini has been examined. Particular attention has been paid to the soft parts. In all cases, the structure of the apparatus can easily be derived from that found in the primitive Characinoidei: the significance of the observed differencasi is discussed. Chranilov's theory of the mechanism of the apparatus in the Cyprinidae appears to be applicable to all Cyprini, including the highly modified NemachilusKeywords
