Abstract

The reaction

{}^{26}{Mg}

(

{}^{7}{Li}

,

{}^{7}{Be}

)

{}^{26}{Na}

at

E ({}^{7}{Li}) = 36

MeV has been used to measure the mass excess of

{}^{26}{Na}

; a value of - 6.853±0.030 MeV was obtained. This result differs by 0.3-0.8 MeV from those previously determined from

β

-decay end-point measurements.
