Abstract
The Bairdiinae of the littoral and inner shelf of the Solomon Islands are both abundant and diverse. A total of 21 species have been recovered of which 13 are described as new 2 further species are left in open nomenclature. The new genus Mydionobairdia is erected, based on Triebelina schyroconcha Maddocks, 1969. The new species are: Bairdoppilata paraalcyonicola, B. paracratericola, Neonesidea paragierloffi, N. vscripta, N.? crepidula, N.? rara, Paranesidea bipustulosa, P. corbita, P. equipunctata, P. petalona, P. stricta, P.? confusa and P.? paucipunctata. Some of the difficulties involved in distinguishing species of Neonesidea and Paranesidea are discussed. Keywords
